Who are Ann Rea's collectors?

[caption id="attachment_302" align="alignleft" width="287" caption="Artist Ann Rea"]Artist Ann Rea[/caption] I can’t say that I have a single type of collector. But I can say they are generally women, although it’s men that most often commission me or buy more original oil paintings versus reproductions.  They live across North America and some from Europe. Most of my art collectors come by way of referral, thankfully.  The second most popular way for collectors to find me is through wine events.  I was at one this weekend, the San Francisco Vintners Market, a big success for the first event of its kind. While I was there I was people watching with the wine maker next to me, Jennifer Waits of Waits-Mast Family Cellars.  I told her that I have done enough events now that am able to spot my collectors in the crowd. “How?” the wine maker asked?  It’s the way they are dressed. They are well healed, stylish but never over the top or over done.   Also they are articulate, well read, educated, sophisticated, often entrepreneurs, and aesthetically minded/oriented. Some are avid and well-informed art collectors and some have never purchased or commissioned an original oil painting before. One thing that I always recognize in my collectors is that I genuinely like them. They are very supportive, ready to introduce me to their friends and colleagues and even host receptions for me.  I feel like they are rooting for me. My collectors are intelligent, successful, and appreciative people and they make it possible for me to do what I love.  And I love that what I do makes my collectors feel good.  It’s the best kind of business to be in.
