Posting Pallette for the Palate - Art and Wine Pairings received many curious replies

"Talking about music is like dancing about architecture"After I posted “Talking about music is like dancing about architecture” on November 16, 2009, I received many curious emails and calls.  This included a call from an editor of a major national wine trade magazine and several inquiries from wine writers and sommeliers around the country who were very interested in the concept. One of the initial inquiries came from Robin McKee-Cant of the Sonoma County Tourism Bureau.  Robin was definitely interested in creating an art and wine pairing and she had just the venue with Scott Jordan, owner of Cellars of Sonoma, at a regular Women and Wine Wednesday.  This gathering takes place each month, on Wednesday evenings, no less, this one on December 30, 2009. This is a concept that my good friend and sommelier and wine writer Christopher Sawyer and I have been exploring for a while.  I always have fun with Christopher and he has always been able to make my wine taste better by guiding me through a tasting.  It’s like being with the best curator one could have at an art museum.  He also has the ability to describe the nuances of my paintings and to enrich the experience for the viewer and the artist. As I was chatting with Robin about the details of the event, it came to no surprise that she is also a musician.  She sings in a band.  So she gets it.  Art, wine, music, dance are all about expression and creating a sensory and sensual experience that we can try to talk about but that we can only feel. I hope that you will join Robin, Scott, and me at Cellars of Sonoma, from 5:30 to 8:30pm, Wednesday, December 30, 2009, located at 133 4th Street. Santa Rosa, CA 95401, 707.578.1826.  Please phone Scott to RSVP at 707.578.1826.  It’s $25 per person, or complimentary with the purchase of a bottle of wine.
